In the first six months of this year, the Safe Newcastle Partnership has trained 1,140 taxi drivers in Newcastle to have a better understanding of safeguarding concerns.

The training session, ‘Safeguarding Vulnerable Passengers’ aims to inform drivers; about the different types of abuse their customers may be vulnerable to, the signs to look out for, who and how to report concerns, and personal safety advice.

This training is provided to taxi drivers who apply for a new license or for existing drivers looking to renew their license.
