Domestic Violence and Abuse Training Programme April 2010 – March 2011
Domestic violence is a serious social and criminal problem that accounts for almost a quarter of all violent crime and has a significant impact on the lives of victims, children and families from all social, religious and cultural groups as well as communities and society as a whole.
Tackling domestic violence and abuse within relationships is a clear priority for the city of Newcastle upon Tyne. Safe Newcastle is committed to ensuring the effectiveness of domestic violence responses and intervention. We recognise that in order to achieve this, the development and delivery of training to raise awareness and equip workers with the necessary skills is essential.
Domestic violence training plays a vital role in increasing understanding of the impact of domestic violence on adult victims and children, how best to respond and offer protection and support as well as encouraging earlier identification.
There are significant numbers of staff across all agencies in Newcastle in contact with domestic violence victims, survivors, perpetrators and children living with domestic violence and abuse. Safe Newcastle is therefore pleased to offer its Domestic Violence and Abuse Training Programme for 2010 – 2011 which will be updated on a quarterly basis.
All of the courses listed are delivered in a multi agency setting. This provides participants with the opportunity to share their experience, skills and knowledge and learn about other agencies’ roles, responsibilities and limitations in relation to domestic violence.
In addition to these multi agency training events, Safe Newcastle can provide tailored training to meet your agency’s specific requirements.
