Log on to New Online Meetings

Page content

computerPOLICE are urging Newcastle residents to log on to virtual meetings to find out more about crime and disorder in their neighbourhood.

Almost 120 people logged on for the first series of meetings, which took place in seven areas across the city.

Now the online meetings - a first for Northumbria Police - are running again and officers are encouraging even more people - young and old - to get online to chat to their local Neighbourhood Inspector.

You can:

  • ask questions

  • leave comments

  • raise concerns about crime and disorder,

  • raise concerns about ongoing issues

  • comment on good work you are aware of

  • get crime prevention and security advice.

Residents, who can log on anonymously or can leave their name, are encouraged to get involved in the innovative meetings as officers are keen to hear as many views as possible about local policing.

The online meetings are a great way for people to get involved with their local officers without having to leave their home.

The next virtual meeting takes place for residents living in the Outer West area on Sunday July 18 between 7pm and 9pm, hosted by Sgt Kell.

Sgt Kell will be there to find out more about the issues and concerns of residents in the area and to answer any questions about policing in their neighbourhoods.

He said: "This is the third online meeting we've held and the previous two have been quite well received. However, we are keen to get more people involved in these meetings as they are an easy way for them to get across their views and ask questions about crime and disorder in their neighbourhood.

"Residents can ask about current crime issues, get security advice and find out about ongoing operations as well as report any concerns to us.

"The meeting starts at 7pm and runs until 9pm and residents can join in at any time between those times and get an almost instant response. I'd urge people to get online."

The next series of meetings take place on:

Outer West - Sunday July 18 - 7pm to 9pm
Byker and Walker - Sunday July 25 - 7pm to 9pm
Jesmond and Heaton - Sunday August 1 - 7pm to 9pm
City Centre
- Sunday August 8 - 7pm to 9pm
