Operation Velvet – making bars, pubs and clubs safer

Operation Velvet will be running over the Christmas period, ensuring licensed premises throughout the city provide a safe environment for both customers and staff alike, so everyone can enjoy their night out this Christmas.

By working together the operation will visit 10 venues per week during the Safe in the City campaign.  Licensing Officers from Newcastle City Council will work alongside Environmental Health and the Police checking that premises license conditions are met and that each venue deals promptly and adequately with public safety issues such as the management of any broken glass. They will also reinforce the important that door staff can play in this and the safety of customers in general.
