Newcastle is one of 60 areas in the country selected to pioneer a new neighbourhood crime and justice initiaitive.

This means that they have signed up to the following:

One dialogue with the public on crime
Police and Newcastle City Council to work together to report back on local crime, anti-social behaviour and policing issues

Promoting the Policing Pledge
Minimum standards of what the public can expect from Northumbria Police

Highly visible Community Payback
Ensure that they are tough and visible consequences for those who break the law

Community crime fighters
Training, information and support for active members of the community

Support for victims and witnesses
Giving people the confidence to come forward and give evidence for anti-social behaviour cases
