Students
Newcastle is a very popular city for students but unfortunately it is common for students to be victims of crime.
On average 1 in 3 students become victims of crime whilst at university*
We work closely Newcastle University, Northumbria University and Newcastle College on crime prevention and community safety initiatives, including a website www.knowurstuff.co.uk with advice to follow to make sure memories of University are not of crime committed against you or your friends.

Being a Good Neighbour
Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) means different things to different people. You may not think an impromptu house party until 4 am after your Wednesday night out in town is not that big of a deal as you don't have to be up until lunchtime on Thursday...but your neighbours who have to be up for work at 7am after a sleepless night with two small kids, may think differently...
To be clear, ASB is many things, including:
- Noisy neighbours and loud parties
- Threatening and abusive behaviour, vandalism and graffiti
- Drunken and rowdy groups
- Drug related problems
- Abandoned vehicles, dumping and fly tipping
Newcastle City Council operates a Night Time Noise Service, Nightwatch, seven nights per week between 8pm and 4am. They can be contacted by ringing 0300 1000 101 and will respond to neighbour noise as quickly as possible.
