Page content

We have a number of different services that provide treatment and support to people over 18 who have problems with drug use.

These include:

  • 08000 195 247, called Use Drugs, Use Us for over 18s to access help.  This operates 24 hours a day, every day.
  • Services where people get clean needles and help to reduce the harm that drugs may cause them.
  • Services where people spend their time during the day and get involved in activities.
  • Services where people get counselling or other psychological support.
  • Services where people get prescribed drugs to replace the heroin they are taking.
  • Services that help people to reduce and stop their drug use.
  • Services that help people move away from a life dominated by drugs, for example, getting and living in their own home; getting a new job; rebuilding family relationships; and, finding new interests.
  • Services that target drug users who commit crime and help them to get the treatment and support they need.  These services are part of the Home Office’s Drug Interventions Programme.

You may have heard of some of these services.  They include Plummer Court, Bridge View Treatment Project, North East Council on Addiction (NECA), Lifeline, Outlook, Turning Point, Addaction, Social Services, PROPS, Tyneside Cyrenians and Progress2Work.

All of these services are available to people from across Newcastle wherever they live.  But, they may have to travel to get the service they need.

If you or someone you know is over 18 and needs help with drug use, please contact Use Drugs Use Us on 08000 195 247. Lines are open 24 hours a day.

If you would like advice, information or support on staying safe whilst using drugs contact Lifeline Newcastle on 0191 261 4719.
