Safe Newcastle has used re-deployable cameras to improve community safety in Newcastle since 2005.

Below are some examples of how the cameras have helped to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour:

• helped in a number of arrests for anti-social behaviour, burglary and assault
• footage used as evidence in court cases for ASBO breaches
• helped in investigations of serious crimes
• reduced levels of crime by up to 50 per cent in some areas where the cameras have been located
• improved the feeling of safety among local residents
