Parenting and support orders
Page content
Sometimes it makes sense to work with the members and other family members of someone who is behaving anti-socially. They can then be part of the process of changing the person's behaviour. There are different kinds of parenting and support orders.
- Parenting orders
- Parenting contracts
- Individual support orders
- Family Intervention Projects
- Parenting programmes
Does it work?
According to national research, working with young people and their parents together is more effective than working with the young person alone. In Newcastle, compulsory parenting and support orders are rare - more often than not, parents get involved voluntarily. Some have even been trained to help deliver the programme to others.
